Scientific Overview

Nonlinear hyperbolic balance laws are ubiquitous in the modelling of fluidmechanical processes. They enable the development of powerful numerical simulation methods that back decision-making for critical applications such as in-silico aircraft design or climate change research. However, fundamental questions about distinctive hyperbolic features remain open including the multi-scale interference of shock and shear waves, or the interplay of hyperbolic transport and random environments. The largely unsolved well-posedness problem for multi-dimensional inviscid flow equations is deeply connected to the laws of turbulent fluid motion in the high Reynolds-number limit. Further progress requires a concerted effort of both fluid mechanics and the mathematical fields of analysis, numerics, and stochastics.

Accommodation

A limited number of rooms has been reserved at the Aquis Grana City Hotel (Büchel 32, 52062 Aachen) for the period March 7–12, 2027.

The following RWTH rates are available:

• Comfort single room: EUR 109.00 per room and night
• Comfort double room: EUR 135.00 per room and night

The rates include a breakfast buffet and statutory VAT. Please note that an additional accommodation tax of EUR 2.50 per person and night is charged by the City of Aachen and has to be paid upon departure.

The room contingent is reserved on option until October 22, 2026. Further information on booking will be provided in due course.

Travel

The SPP 2410 Annual Meeting 2027 will take place at RWTH Aachen University. Aachen is located close to the borders of Belgium and the Netherlands and can be reached conveniently by train, car, and several nearby airports.

By train

Participants arriving by train should travel to Aachen Hauptbahnhof. From Aachen Hauptbahnhof, the venue and the Aquis Grana Hotel can be reached by taxi, public transport, or on foot. Detailed train connections are available via the Deutsche Bahn website: www.bahn.de/en.
