Scientific Overview
After our successful workshop in Pretoria, South Africa, this follow-up workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to strengthen and expand the previously established connections to create a collaborative research environment as a basis for future research collaborations. The main objective of this workshop is to present recent results and to exchange ideas on the current scientific topics in opimization and control, and on the continuation of the established network in the future.Participants: | The workshop is intended for invited researchers from Africa and Germany only. There is no open registration. The field of participants will consist of participants from the last workshop and new researchers from Africa. |
Workshop: | During the workshop researchers will give talks and review some of the major topics and new trends in the area. |
Optimization and control have many applications in various fields of applied science and engineering, also with particular relevance for sub-Saharan Africa, e.g. in the field of infrastructure, health, and mobility. Many real life problems are described as highly complex mathematical models, which are subject to optimization and control. While a careful mathematical analysis and their solution methods may not solve directly the mentioned problems, the improved understanding through optimization models will provide important contributions.
Registration & Funding
The workshop is intended for invited researchers only. There is no open registration. Accommodation and meals (except dinner) are covered.Abstract Submission
Please submit your abstract using the following template and send it to optcon@igpm.rwth-aachen.de. We aim to have approximately 20 presentations. The abstract submission deadline is 15th of August, 2024. Abstract submission is now closed.Presentations will be 25 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions.
